1. General Description: a. The instrument shall be fully automated, compact; computer controlled sequential Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescent Spectrometer capable of analyzing elements from Be to U . The concentration range from ppm to 100% in pellet, loose powder and fused bead form with high speed and high precession. The system shall be primarily capable of analyzing major, minor and trace elements both qualitatively and quantitatively in rocks/ores/minerals/sediments and such samples from our various University Departments. b. The instrument shall be floor mounted with single cabinet including the control electronics and shall have auto and Manual sample changer. c. The bidding firm should adhere international radiation compliance and should provide with supportive documents/certificates. d. The instrument should be cooled by an external chiller.

2. Sample handling and presentation: a. The sample presentation system should be capable of handling solids, liquids, pressed powders, loose powders and fused beads (28 mm to 50 mm dia.) in a variety of sample holders. b. The sample surface should face downwards during analysis facilitating loose powder and liquid analysis. c. Spectrometer should have facility for automatic sample type recognition and change of the analysis medium. An automatic sample changer with capacity of handling at least 60 samples or more of various dimensions at a time. d. Sample Holders & Trays for handling 40 nos. of sample of 40 mm dia and 15 nos. of fused bead sample of 30mm dia & 5 No’s of Liquid / Loose powder should be provided. The vendor shall supply at least 2000 disposable cups & mylar film appropriate for loose powder & Liquid sample analysis.

3. Generator and X-ray Tube: a. Generator should have rating 4 kW, voltage 60 kV or more and current 150 mA or more. There should be high level of generator and tube stability but not less than 0.0005% per 1% mains variation. b. Diagnostic software should allow access to all important parameters of the XRF including generator, tube and detectors. c. X- ray tube should be Rh end window type with 4 kW rating or more, voltage 60 kV or more and current 150 mA or more. Tube Be- window thickness should not be less than 50 micron and not more than 75 micron. The X-ray spectrometer must have a protective covering/feature to deal with accidental sample spillage and corrosive samples. The vendor should ensure special provision in the tube for drift free performance of minimum 10000 hours-Proof in the form of printer literature/catalog should be submitted. It should have facility for auto tube breeding, monitoring tube life, tube flashes.

4. Optics: a. Collimator: Three or more position programmable collimator masks shall be provided (Blank collimator masks should not be provided). Primary collimators with choice from ultra high resolution from fine to coarse shall be available to optimize the measuring conditions for each element to cover ppm to percentage concentration range. b. Beam path: Measurement medium shall be vacuum for solids, fused beads and Helium purge for pressed pellets & Liquid samples. c. Tube filters: Minimum four primary beam tube filters shall be attached including primary beam stopper. d. Crystals: Crystal mill shall be bidirectional and equipped with minimum eight positions for crystals. Crystals LiF200, LiF220, PET, Ge Crystal ,suitable crystal for measuring Oxygen to Magnesium & dedicated crystals to measure Boron & Carbon should be provided. e. Spinner: Sample spinner with 0.5 revolutions to be inbuilt and to be quoted. f. Dust control system to collect dust/loose powder from the sample surface before it enters main chamber should be inbuilt in the system and user accessible for cleaning. the spectrometer should be equipped with built in dust collection system which can collect the falling particles from the sample before it enters the main chamber. g. Detectors: Gas flow proportional, scintillation. The Flow Detector should be highly efficient. The set of detectors offered should have high efficiency across the entire range of elemental analyses, which includes the cross over region, for both, quantitative as well as qualitative analyses. We prefer any advanced additional detector over and above the Gas Flow and Scintillation Counter if available the same may be quoted as an option. h. Goniometer: The goniometer shall be gearless/ with high precision gear, micro processor controlled. Angular accuracy and reproducibility figures to be specified by vendor with documentary evidence. In case of any back lash error, the system should be capable of correcting it automatically.

Temperature stability should be 0.05oC.

5. Control Software with license: User friendly intelligent software should be quoted with following features: a. Spectrometry software should be licensed WINDOWS based latest version including multi point background correction, line overlap correction, ratio correction, auto PHD measurement, calibration curve quantitative analysis incorporation matrix correction(based on different mathematical model), recalibration programme, full screen colour graphics capabilities, limit checks, statistical evaluation, calculation of concentration function for quantitative analysis, data storage and retrieval with multi connecting facilities etc. b. Extensive analytical software package for qualitative, quantitative, and standard-less analysis of various samples to be quoted. c. The software and hardware for remote diagnostics to be quoted as default. The remote diagnostics should be capable of checking the equipment parameters/ calibration etc from a remote location. d. A choice of various calibration models and fundamental parameter method must be included in the analytical software package and the software updates to be provided periodically. e. Fixed and variable alpha correction facility and reporting should be available with the software. f. Instrument updates should be possible per channel by measuring monitor samples or pre-analytical programme by measuring recalibration standards. g. Theoretical alpha correction software facility should be offered under basic system. h. For Standard less software to analyze major, minor and trace elements in geological samples, the supplier is responsible for the calibration of standard less programme whenever it is required at customer’s end at free of cost. i. The software should have corrections for secondary and tertiary fluorescence. j. The offered standard less software should be intelligent and should following features:- The automatic analysis of totally unknown samples for all elements form Oxygen to uranium without performing a calibration with best analytical flexibility for use. Standard samples required for standard less software must be supplied with the machine. Vendor must provide detailed certificate of analysis with concentration of elements present in the standard set up samples. k. It should be able to perform fast scan for a quick qualitative analysis and slow scan for accurate analysis for major, minor and trace elements allowing analysis of bulk samples, small samples. The standard less program should have the possibility of performing as an integrated facility together with qualitative and quantitative software supplied along with the system for all the elements from Oxygen to uranium l. The licensed copy of the software (including analytical software for XRF) shall be supplied in CD- ROM with necessary help. m. All operational manuals/ flow charts, instrument manuals, important published literature of reference should be supplied at free of cost in hard copies and soft copies.

6.Computer: Branded latest configuration high end PC (English US language version) with genuine windows 10 software operating system , with minimum intel core i5/i7 @2.30 Gz processor, capacity of hard disk (1tb), 4 GB RAM and CD/DVD ROM drives and MS office and antivirus installed, Min 19” TFT colour monitor, Key board, mouse should be quoted. Vendor should supply colour laser jet printer with high resolution prints should be able to connect through wireless as well USB support. Separate computer table should be provided for putting the CPU, Monitor and printer of the attached Computer along with three revolving chairs.

7. Power supply: Power supply for the instrument should be 230 V± 10%, 50 Hz± 10% as per Indian Standard with protective RF ground. Spectrometer should use 230 V± 10% single phase directly without the need of any step up or step down transformer. The required material for RF ground shall be provided by the supplier.

8. Accessories: a. UPS: The vendor shall supply UPS ( Min 10 kVA for their XRF machine) with isolation transformer in output voltage and 1/2 hour back up suitable for the XRF from reputed vendors. It shall contain maintenance free batteries and vendor is responsible for the maintenance of the UPS also. b. AN additional UPS for pump pf external chiller of suitable capacity (5kVA minimum) with with isolation transformer in output voltage and 1/2 hour back up suitable for the XRF from reputed vendors. It shall contain maintenance free batteries and vendor is responsible for the maintenance of the UPS also. b. Bead making machine: The vendor shall supply bead making machine with Two crucibles and Two casting dish with 1 bead making position. The system should be with fully automated, electrical heating simple operation, precise temperature control and display up to ±1oC. , i. Heating: heating chamber temperature up to 1200 oC. ii. Voltage: 210V to 240V, Current: 20A, Frequency: 50-60Hz.
